I think Stacee would be an excellent choice for replacement … just not for the same reason my brother does. She really understands this area and knows how to run a really sweet downtown Halloween pumpkin party. She has a list of accomplishments as long as the city’s bordering river that have been p0sted in many discussion forums. I know I am among many who feel this way!!

Can’t see this. Stacee Sellers has not been successful with Washougal yet. I don’t want to see the 18th District suffer nor the City of Washougal.

Does she want us to view her as another Paul Dennis? I hope not…

Curtis has denied that he did anything wrong.

Washougal Mayor Stacee Sellers confirmed Monday that she would enter the 18th District contest and would also finish her term as mayor if she is appointed.

“Sen. (Joe) Zarelli called me and said, ‘Are you interested?’ ” Sellers said. “The answer is yes. My term ends at the end of 2009, but I can hold two offices simultaneously. It’s a short session, and I have a great staff at Washougal.” Zarelli represents the 18th District in the state Senate.

If appointed, Sellers said, she would work on economic development and transportation issues.

Hey, and Mark Paras could fly here back and forth to Olympia — she would be the envy of every other state representative. She would have her own private air shuttle! Look at all the time she would save driving I-5.

I am a Republican too, and I find that she does represent my values. She is pro-business, advocates government efficiency, believes we are over-taxed, and it would be great if she could serve on a transportation committee — because we need an advocate for better roads in southwest Washington. I also think, if asked, that Nan Henricksen would support Liz for the state house of representatives. Nan knows how valuable it will be for Camas to get a strong voice for our city in the state legislature. I see this as a win-win.

Camas Slough, although I appreciate your grass roots effort, you may have forgotten Nan Henriksen does not support Liz. She has backed Paul Dennis for a long time. Based on her comments I don’t think she would support Liz even if it was for something other than the Mayor of Camas.

Black Hand has a good point. As Pike detractors we should NOT support her to move to the state level. I have been a republican my entire political life and she does NOT represent my values.

Black Hand, I don’t know who you thought you overheard, but my comments are sincere. I think Liz has the qualifications to be an outstanding state representative. Someone needs to start calling each of those Republican precinct officers in Clark and Cowlitz counties to advocate for Liz. Who is the highest ranking Republican in Camas who might make these calls? Nan Henriksen might be the best person.

You guys are being obvious about this. Today, I overheard one of you Dennis supporters saying you were going to talk up Liz for the State Rep. position to get her out of town.

Also, the replacement of Curtis only rests on the backs of about 40 Republican PCO’s from Clark & Cowlitz counties and the County Commissioners. Not with Camas voters. Just food for thought.

I think the race is going to be close — so there will be no clear winner. That is why I think either Pike or Dennis will make a great candidate for the state house.

Is it Bren or Brent Boger? Makes no difference, hardly anyone knows him. I think Liz Pike or Paul Dennis would beat him. Like someone said earlier, Camas now has the population to carry the district vote. Let’s see if we can’t support a candidate who will be supportive of Camas & Washougal. I agree, we need to get behind whoever loses the mayors race.

Bren Boger is an assistant city attorney in Vancouver and the former head of the Republican party in Clark County.

Saw in the paper that someone else (forget the name) has thrown their hat in the ring.

Not sure the Mayor has statewide ambitions…

I cannot believe what I read about Richard Curtis! You just can’t believe how some people live secret lives. But I agree with other people. We need a representative from Camas. Either Liz or Paul would be great. They might help us with funding for roads, schools, parks or something else. Which one loses the election should be who we support to get the representative position. That way theyll both be winners.
